Hiking Colorado

Last weekend we spent a ton of time (practically the whole weekend) walking around the Denver area. On Saturday, we took Ethan hiking for the first time at Chatfield State Park near our house. Most of the trails are paved so we could have actually taken our stroller, but there is also a nice lake there and beach too. We put little E in our new Kelty Kids hiking back pack and we were off! Ethan loved it and as you can see, he appears to be a very experienced hiker. He is all decked out in the gear: hat, glasses, his own little back pack and of course his paci:) He brought along his soccer ball and a couple of books in his backpack just in case he should get bored. That was not an issue as a stick kept him happy for the entire hike:) After our hike, we went to the picnic area and had lunch. After lunch Ethan decided to get up and start hiking on his own. We thought he would come back because maybe he would be scared in the woods without us, but that was not the case. The kid just kept on going through the tall grass on the wooded path. It was so funny and so cute, but I didn't have the camera handy. Too bad. Apparently he really likes hiking. After our picnic we headed to the beach area where Ethan explored with his backpack on. He picked up various rocks and studied the many ants in the sand around him...gross!
